The course is about five (5) hours total. \nHow hard is the written test?\nIf you pay attention during the class you should have no trouble passing. \nHow hard is the shooting portion of the course?\nThe shooting portion of the course consists of 20 rounds at three (3) yards\, 20 rounds at seven (7) yards and 10 rounds at fifteen (15) yards. It is a fairly easy test\, but you must be able to load\, operate and fire a firearm with some proficiency. This is a course on gun laws and a shooting test\, not a basic pistol class. We offer basic pistol instruction at our “Learn to Shoot” classes. \nWhat is the cost of the course?\nThe fee paid to Spring Guns & Ammo is $75.00\, which includes the range fee for the shooting portion of the course. All training will be held at the Spring Guns and Ammo Long Rifle Range\, Magnolia\, TX. Shooters will be engaging targets from approximately 50 yards to approximately 600 yards. \n\nGoal:\nTo provide relevant long range shooting information and techniques to improve each shooters ability to make long range rifle shots. \n\nEquipment:\nA centerfire bolt action or semi-automatic rifle equipped with a variable power optical device (Scope) capable of dialing in ranges out to at least 600 yards. Notebook and pencil or pen and small calculator. Spotting scope and range finder\, if you have them. Eye and ear protection required. Hat\, sunscreen\, chair and snacks as needed. \nPLEASE HAVE RIFLE ALREADY ZEROED FOR 100 YARDS BEFORE ATTENDING. \nABSOLUTELY NO ARMOR PIERCING AMMO ALLOWED. PLEASE LIMIT RIFLE CALIBER TO 30 CALIBER. NO .223/5.56\, .338\, .416 OR .50. \nClass works best with your own rifle. DESCRIPTION:Course Info:\n\nAll Training will be held at SGA’s Spring\, TX Location\nAll paperwork and range time. Rental Guns Available.\nFREE Coffee and Donuts\nIncludes coupon for 5% off gun purchase or a free range pass to use at a later date.\n\n  \nWhat do I need to bring?\nEye and Ear Protection\, a handgun and fifty (50) Brass cased Rounds. Handgun Rentals and Ammo are available at the store.  You must have a valid driver license or identification card. However\, you do not have to have a Texas Drivers License or be a resident of Texas. \n  \nHow long is the course?\nThe course is four (4) hours\, plus the shooting portion of the test. The course is about five (5) hours total. \nHow hard is the written test?\nIf you pay attention during the class you should have no trouble passing. \nHow hard is the shooting portion of the course?\nThe shooting portion of the course consists of 20 rounds at three (3) yards\, 20 rounds at seven (7) yards and 10 rounds at fifteen (15) yards. It is a fairly easy test\, but you must be able to load\, operate and fire a firearm with some proficiency. This is a course on gun laws and a shooting test\, not a basic pistol class. We offer basic pistol instruction at our “Learn to Shoot” classes. \nWhat is the cost of the course?\nThe fee paid to Spring Guns & Ammo is $75.00\, which includes the range fee for the shooting portion of the course. Upon completion\, you will be given a Free Range Pass ($17.00 value) and 5% off of a firearm\, if purchased within five (5) days.\nThe fee paid to the State is $40.00 (the State fee is half-price for seniors & veterans)\, which is good for about five (5) years. You must also complete finger printing at a cost of typically $10.00. \nWill I have to complete a renewal course?\nRenewals are now completed online and don’t require a course. \nDo I qualify to obtain my LTC (License to Carry)?\nSpring Guns & Ammo does not perform a background check or issue the License to Carry. Spring Guns & Ammo certifies to the State that you have completed the proper training required to obtain your License to Carry.\nThe State will not discuss an application with Spring Guns & Ammo or its personnel. Questions regarding an application should be directed to the Department of Public Safety.\nA felony\, ever\, or a class A or B misdemeanor\, history of chemical dependency or domestic violence occurring within the last five (5) years will disqualify you as a candidate. \nDoes the course cover both open carry and concealed carry?\nYes\, upon completion of the course you will have obtained a License to Carry\, which includes both open and concealed carry\, subject to limitations to be discussed in class. \nAdditional Information\n\nSGA has ammo for purchase at all locations.\nPlease Arrive 10-15 Minutes Early To Complete The Required Paperwork Prior To The Start Of The Class.

DESCRIPTION:Skill Level\nStudents MUST have taken SGA’s Crosby Defensive Pistol 1 class\, or receive Instructor Approval to attend the class. \nClass Info\nClass will be approximately 2 hours. All training will be held at SGA’s Crosby Tx.\, location. \nTraining will instruct students in the necessary skills to effectively draw from an outside the Waistband (OWB) holster utilizing DRY/LIVE fire training exercises to perfect these skills. \nSkills Covered and Description of Training\nHour 1 will re-introduce the student to the proper Stance\, Grip\, Sight Management\, Trigger Control\, Recoil Management and Follow-through needed for Self Defense Shooting. Shooters will learn the proper hand placement and movement to maximize the fastest/safest draw-stroke and first shot placement. Students will begin with empty/safe pistols and progress to live fire drills at the instructor’s discretion. \nHour 2 will consist of various shooting exercises to further familiarize the student with the skills needed for a proper draw and first shot placement. Students will address targets from 1 up to 15 yards as the instructor sees the class progress. Immediate action drills and Emergency Reload Drills may be incorporated into the training. Students should bring 100-150 rounds of ammunition. \nNote: SGA Crosby has ammo available for purchase for the class. \nEquipment Requirements\n\nOutside the Waistband (OWB) Holster\nPistol (that fits holster)\nMagazine Pouch/Carrier (2 – Spare Magazines)\nEye and Ear Protection/Hat\n100-150 rounds of Ammunition\nShirt/Jacket to cover pistol when worn (Instructor may have students utilize a cover garment if the class has progressed to that point in their training.
